The Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu has spoken up about
how former President, Goodluck Jonathan was misled by the immediate past
Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed
Bello Adoke, into withdrawing his assent to the amended 1999
constitution after he had initially assented to it. Ekweremadu who
revealed this while speaking at the 2015 UNIZIK Faculty of Law Public
Lecture, as guest speaker, explained that Adoke frustrated the
constitution amendment process because of the National Assembly’s
refusal to accede to his request to expunge the amendment seeking to
separate the office of the Minister of Justice from that of the Attorney
General.
