APC to substitute Audu with Yahaya Bello

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami, has said for the inconclusive Kogi State governorship election, the All Progressives Congress will need to substitute its candidate, late Abubakar Audu with Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who

came second in the primary election that produced Audu as the party candidate.
Asked if substitution of Audu should automatically benefit his Running Mate, James Faleke, Malami said: “It all depends on the appreciation of issues arising from the primaries conducted before now.
“There was a first and a second candidate.

“That primaries that had taken place over time had not by anyway been nullified.
“And it is recognized by law.
“But then a further consideration would be the idea of conducting another primary but that is not envisaged in view of the sustainability of the first primaries.”

In the APC primary election, Audu polled 1, 109 votes to beat his closest rival, Yahaya Bello, who scored 703 votes. A former Senator, Nurudeen Abatemi, scored 400 votes to place third .
Another aspirant, Sanusi Abubakar, scored 309 votes, while Hadiza Ibrahim, the only female among the 28 aspirants, scored four votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had said it will hold supplementary election in 91 Poling Units in Kogi State on December 5.
A notice signed by INEC Secretary, Mrs Augusta Ogakwu said APC will substitute its governorship candidate in the Kogi State governorship election.
