Biafra Restoration FAQ: See answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the Restoration of the Republic of Biafra |
Q1. Why do you want to restore Biafra?
A1. Nigeria is a fraud and an illegal entity created by the British
colonialist. It is a mark of stupidity that the different nationalities
in the “mere geographic expression” named Nigeria believe they are one
country. There is nothing a Biafran has in common with a Hausa, Fulani,
Yoruba etc, and therefore should not be forced to associate with people
who have diverse cultures, values, views and religion. It is a strong
demonstration of injustice that Biafrans were forced into this union
without their consent.
Consequent to the aforementioned, Biafrans have been the most maltreated
in the Nigeria. They have been marginalised and denied basic amenities
of life. There are no industries to sustain the economy of the land,
federal projects in Biafra are serially abandoned by successive
governments, who implement policies of subjugation of Biafra. Biafra
native industries in Aba and Nnewi are deliberately undermined. The
result is massive youth unemployment in the land and extreme levels of
poverty
Q2. Who are Biafrans?
A2. Biafrans are made up of people from the current states of Abia,
Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and
Rivers as well as people from Igbanke in Edo State and some parts of
Idoma in Benue State.
Q3. How was this new map of Biafra drawn?
A3. The old map of Biafra was originally drawn from the old Eastern
region. However, it did not take into cognisance the fact that some
Biafrans were living in some parts of the old Mid West and Mid East
regions. These states and areas Biafrans have traditionally resided
have been co-opted into the map taking into cognisance the fact that
Biafrans from these areas such as Major Nzeogwu, Col Joe Achuzie
actively participated in the war, and many Biafran civilians in these
states were brutally killed in the genocidal war (the infamous Asaba
Massacre).
However, at the restoration of Biafra all the groups will be giving the
opportunity to decide through a referendum if they want to become part
of Biafra Republic.
Q4. How would Biafra Republic be run?
A4. Biafra government would be a marked contrast to the present Nigerian
political system. It would be based on a highly devolved central
government that handles defence, fiscal policies, and foreign affairs
interests. In view of the fact that Biafrans are naturally republicans,
the various regions of Biafra will be autonomous, with semi independent
government and legislature, and a central government that oversees
other national issues. Each region would manage its resources and remit
only a certain percentage to the central government.
This way no single group of people can lord things over the other.
Equity and justice will rule the day and people would individually
strive for the development of their areas without any hindrance.
Q5. Can’t we join hands with others and push out the corrupt leaders in Nigeria?
A5. No. Nigeria is fundamentally flawed, the reason why it can never be
remedied from the hands of the corrupt leaders. Nigeria is a fraudulent
experiment of the British that was meant to benefit only them and some
sections of the country. The differences between the various ethnic
nationalities are strong stumbling block that can never be overcome.
Hausa-Fulani can never see things the way Igbo-Ijaw-Ibibio-Efik does.
Yoruba can never see issues the way Hausa-Fulani does. Since the
inception of Nigeria, the nations have always worked for their personal
and ethnic interests and the “collective interests of Nigeria” have been
undermined. For example every appointment in Nigeria is scrutinised to
see where the appointee is from etc.
The mere fact that there is a Federal Character system in the country is
a strong demonstration that there is no unity in Nigeria. Yoruba works
against an Igbo appointee, and vice versa, Hausa-Fulani fill all the
lucrative positions with his people etc. Therefore, pretending to be one
when in all actions and ramification Nigeria is divided is foolishness
and self-deciet. Hoping that Nigeria will be better with time is just as
stupid as thinking that the river will flow up the hill. The only
remedy for Nigeria is disintegration, where every ethnic nationality
would have the opportunity to take care of its needs.
Q6. Biafrans are divided, what are the guarantees that we will not
face the same problems we are facing in Nigeria when Biafra is restored?
A6. Biafrans are not divided. Compared to other nations, Biafrans are
the only united ethnic nationality in Nigeria. The doctrine of
Onyeaghala Nwanne ya (be your brother’s keeper) is etched in the
consciousness of Biafrans. That is why various communities in Biafra
have successfully executed community projects such as rural
electrification, portable water projects, town hall constructions, road
maintenance etc. Biafrans strongly demonstrated this high level of unity
of interest when the people of Imo State (current Imo and Abia)
singlehandedly raised the money to build the Imo Airport (Sam Mbakwe
Airport). This was carried out when it became apparent that the Federal
Government of Nigeria did not want build this much needed airport. So
which other ethnic nationality in Nigeria has come together to do such a
thing, if they are more united than Biafrans? At the early stages of
the Radio Biafra, Biafrans in Diaspora contributed money to buy a
hightech radio transmitter of up to N25 million to enable Radio Biafra
broadcast from Biafra land. So where is this disunity?
Q7. How about this politicians and leaders of Biafra, who despite
being in government have not done much for Biafrans? Won’t they be the
ones that would hijack and pilot affairs when Biafra is restored?
A7. Not at all! Nothing is far from the truth than this. The so called politicians and leaders are not Biafran leaders chosen by the people.
They were foisted on Biafra by their Hausa-Fulani cronies who put them
in power or appoint them to national positions. This is the reason they
have not worked for the interest of Biafra but for those of their
masters. For instance during the 1999 elections, the All Progressive
Grand Alliance (APGA) under Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu won all the 5 states
of Southeast region. However, the results were rigged in the favour of
the PDP, who installed their stooges as governors of the Southeast
states. Only Peter Obi was able to reclaim his mandate among all the
other APGA aspirants.
This is the reason the current movement for the restoration of Biafra is
sidelining these criminals masquerading as politicians and Biafran
leaders, by not seeking funding from them. They will be made irrelevant
in Biafra Republic and would have no part to play. Therefore they won’t
have the opportunity to derail the Biafran course or the restored Biafra
Republic.
Q8. Who is Chukwu Abiama?
A8. Chukwu Abiama is the Biafran name for God the creator of the
universe. He is also known by other names such as Chineke, Abasi, Obasi
bi na elu etc.
Q8 B. What is the religion of Biafrans?
A8B. Biafrans believe in the existence of only one God, Chuwku Abiama
the creator of the entire universe. This is closely linked to Judaism.
Biafrans believe in the sanctity of life, the reason why the greatest
punishment of the land was banishment, instead of execution.
However, this religion was slowly corrupted with influence and
interactions with neighbouring nations, leading the religion of Biafra
tilting towards polytheism and other barbaric forms such as human
sacrifice. This was about the state of the religion when Europeans
colonialist brought Christianity into the land.
Q9. But I have a lot of friends who are not Biafrans. What would happen to my relationship with them when Biafra is restored?
A9. Biafra cannot restrict your freedom of association. You can still
retain your friendship and relationship with people from other parts of
the present day Nigeria when Biafra is restored, just as you are
probably currently friends with people from other parts of the world.
You don’t have to be in the same country with your friend. Biafra
restoration fire cannot be quenched because of such friendship and
relation. Countries are not forged on friendship and relation but on
cultural similarities and common interests.
Q10. What of my landed properties and other assets in other parts of
Nigeria? Does the restoration of Biafra mean that I will lose them?
A10. Not at all! Your properties in other parts of Nigeria will be
secured the same way your properties in Britain and United Sates etc are
secured at the restoration of the sovereignty of Biafra Republic. All
you have to do is to make sure you have secured all your documents
proving your ownership of the properties and assets. The era of
abandoned property is over.
Q11. Must we do this now?
A11. This is our chance! Biafrans have never been safe in Nigeria. They
have been treated as third class citizens. Now that the power has
reverted back to the north it would be extremely difficult to get power
again. This is the time to act.
Q12. But Igbos don’t love themselves. How can they be in the same country?
A11. First of all Biafra is not just about Igbo-speaking people. There
are others. Secondly a country is not built out of love, but mainly on a
common value system, culture and tradition.
Nevertheless, Igbo-speaking people love themselves more than any other group in/nation in Nigeria.
Who could have believed that Biafrans can come out to massively protest
for just the release of a single man? With many of them taking bullets
from police and army? What other sort of love are you looking for? Anyway ask Idris Abdulkareem (of the Nigeria Jaga Jaga fame) and he would tell you more and why he would be the first Hausa man to seek Biafran visa.
