Biafra will continue to expose Biritsh-Nigeria’s evil
As the struggle for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) continues, a leader in the Biafran struggle
has said they were in the business of exposing all Nigeria’s evils to the
world.
Uchenna Asiegbu, Head of Directorate of State of Biafra,
said this in Spain this morning as he was reacting to the news that Biafrans
had finally dragged Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, and his government to
the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Human Rights Court.
He said the action of the lawyer was in line with the
philosophy of IPOB which was to use every
opportunity to expose the fraud called Nigeria, even as they continue in their
agitation for a free and independent Biafra. He also said the move was
necessary for the world to see the evil happenings inside Nigeria and the kind
of lunatics that emerge as its leaders.
“Yes, it is good, Nigeria is a lawless country; there is no
doubt about that, and the whole world need
to see it. Before IPOB, how many people outside Nigeria knew that the place is
that rotten? Now they are seeing it” he
added.
It is instructive to note that Ogechukwu Obetta, lawyer to Kanu who was arrested on October 14, 2015, made a press
release recently where he announced the move. In the release, he had explained
that the move was necessitated by the extra-judicial detention of the Biafran
leader by Buhari and his government.
He said in the brief that his team were dragging “the
Federal Government of Nigeria nay the SSS to the ECOWAS COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS
to ventilate our client’s right to personal liberty, freedom of expression,
dignity of human person and equality before the law” he said.
He said the fundamental human rights of his client had been trampled upon so greatly that they had no
choice than to drag Nigerian government to the ECOWAS court. He therefore wrote that “of note was that
within an interval of eight days”, they
had applied and gotten three Orders of Court against the SSS, compelling them
to release, produce and transfer the Biafran leader to the prisons, which they
flagrantly refused.
Explaining further, Obeta
wrote: “As it stands, our client has fulfilled the bail condition set by the
court whereat he was charged with the aforementioned criminal offenses. The
continued incarceration of our client by the SSS defies all known democratic
and constitutional provisions of the law, standards and rules set to safeguard
the fundamental rights of citizens”
Ifeanyi Ojukwu, another outspoken Biafran activist and Radio Biafra commentator aligned with Asiegbu’s position on the matter, saying it was one of the wisest decisions in the struggle. He said, “I am glad for this Biafran agitation which has continuously been opening the can of worms that is Nigeria. Let them take him and his government to the ECOWAS court, after that they can also take them to the world court so that the underbelly of the abomination called Nigeria will continue to be exposed” said Ojukwu”
