I
am always happy whenever the issue of Biafra is being discussed both on radio
and tv stations, as well as on the pages of newspapers, on a daily basis.
This
is the first time the issue of Biafra is shaking the entire country (Nigeria)
in particular and the whole world at large, after the civil war in 1970.
The
radio Biafra led by its director, Mazi. Nnamdi Kanu, renewed the call for the
secession of Biafra from Nigeria. The agitation by the Indigenous People of
Biafra (IPOB) for the freedom of Biafra from Nigeria is a welcome development.
Why
did I think so?
The
present administration of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari have made it clear that his
government will not treat people who did not vote for him the same way he treated
people who voted for him. By this, all his first appointment was focused merely
for the North and one or two was given to the West, and nothing was given to
the Easterners.
Gen.
Buhari, immediately after his inauguration, stopped the ongoing construction of
second Niger Bridge for the reason I do not understand. By doing so, he have
already created that division in the country by himself. This is the person who
claimed to be a good leader, who supposed to carry everybody along, but instead, he carved out the Easterners out of
his government by his actions.
Ndi-Igbo
have been neglected by the Nigerian Government over the years, in all angles
and areas of development.
HOW?
Looking
at the infrastructure in the whole of the Eastern Region, you would agree with
me that there is no Federal presents in the region. All the Federal roads in
the region are nothing to write home about. They are in the very bad condition.
Looking at the political structure of the region, they are currently with five
states compare with to North with nineteen states.
As
we all know that the strength of Geo-political zone is determined by the number
of states. The igbo have lowest number of seats both in the upper chamber and
lower chamber (senate and house of rep.) and the Federal executive council,
while the entire North have the biggest political advantage in the country. Now, tell me why this agitation for the freedom of Biafrans from Nigeria will not continue. As far as am concerned, Gen. buhari have already divided this country before he became president.
