Photo: Woman shot dead by lover at a railway station this morning

A 43-year-old man shot dead his girlfriend near Kloofsig railway station in Lyttelton, South Africa, a few hours ago. (police pictured at the crime scene). Police spokesman Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu said the murder appeared to be domestic violence related.

“A man waited in the bushes near Kloofsig station for his girlfriend, a 43-year-old woman, to get off the train,” he said. The victim was walking with a friend as her boyfriend approached them.
“The man shot his girlfriend in the upper body. Her lady friend ran away and later gave the police an eye-witness account,”

Gumbu said the man is still armed with a 9mm pistol.
