MORE FRUSTRATIONS FOR IGBO

When I drove pass Oshodi area of Lagos with my cousin, to my greatest surprise I saw that the market were Igbo business men and women have been hustling for their daily bread has been demolished by the Lagos State government.

This market was demolished when the shop owners had traveled to their various homes in the East for charismas. All their shops together with their goods and all other valuables were demolished. People who called by their friends and nighbours to inform them of the latest development in the state were disappointed they came back from their villages. 

As if that was not enough, there demolished shops and their goods were sent on fire.

Hmm, I am weeping for my people.

This actions by the APC led government in Lagos State could be the price the Igbo people has to pay for voting for PDP in the last 2015 governorship general in the state. When the Oba of Lagos said during the campaign for governorship election general election, that "If Igbos vote for PDP rather than APC, they will get themselves in lagoon. What he meant may be all these maltreatment that Igbo are getting now in their land.

What a wicked government?

We should not forget that Ladipo market was also demolished sometime in August, 2015 after the election, probably for the same reason. I overheard one Yoruba man saying:

“Yes this is just the beginning for them (Igbo) we (Yoruba) will pursue them comot from the areas they (Igbo) have developed”.

“We will pursue them to Badagry, to Aja, to Ikorodu and other bushy area, so that they (Igbo) can as well develop them for us (Yorubas)”.

These and many more were the reactions of this man for the demolition of the Oshodi market by the Lagos State government. And this is the reality. Nothing can be further from the truth. The true confession made made by this man must not be taking for granted.  

On June 10, 2015 Yorubas were protested against Igbo asking them to leave Lagos for East. That is, they should go and develop their own Lagos in the Eastern region….. 

 

I am calling on my people  to try to channel some of their investment to the east rather than putting all their eggs in one basket. Ndigbo should open their eyes...
