Kanu interview
During his latest hearing at the Federal High Court, Abuja, the leader
of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has granted a short
interview to Ibeh Gift Amarachi and Okonkwo Somto Isaac of Family
writers.
Kanu, who is also the director of Radio Biafra, was arrested by the
State Security Service in Lagos in mid-October 2015 on conspiracy and
terrorism charges that were later changed to treason.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s words in his first media chat that Kanu
would not be released in spite of the High Court rulings due to the
“atrocities” he allegedly committed caused outrage among his supporters
and the wider Nigerian community.
The pro-Biafran leader was denied bail later in January.
Naij.com’s photo-reporter, Yinka Adeparusi, presented exclusive photos
of Kanu wearing Biafra-themed attire at his last court hearing.
In the interview Kanu explained why he chose this outfit.
“It is a message, not just to Biafrans but the world at large. We are
whiter than white and whiter than snow. I am a Biafran and nothing can
stop that. As you can see it goes with a white traditional wear, which
proves that I am proud of the Biafran culture and my nation Biafra,”
Kanu said.

He further stated that he had never felt deterred over the Biafra
struggle following his continued detention.
“Never! Such has never crossed my mind. The Biafra struggle must
continue and my detention cannot stop it. It is either Biafra or Death.
“We should continue our peaceful protest. We must not give up and must
continue working hard because it is making a lot of impact. We should
remember our fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters who
have given their lives towards the restoration of Biafra. Their
sacrifices should not be in vain, as they are our heroes and heroines.
May Chukwuabiama bless them all and bless their households,” the
pro-Biafran leader called on his supporters to continue the struggle.
