A pariah state is a nation considered to be an outcast in the international community.
Lai Mohammed said before the Buhari administration, many investors feared coming into Nigeria to invest because of Terrorism and Corruption. He said this while speaking to state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting yesterday February 17th.
"The personal presence of Mr President in many of this fora is so important and crucial because before now we were almost a pariah state and the two things that have been driving investment away from the country have simply been terrorism and corruption. One thing that nobody can fault this President on is his determination and sense of purpose in fighting this twin-evils. Before now the level of corruption was very high that nobody was ready to risk his investment in Nigeria. The cost of doing business was so high that most international businessmen didn’t want to come here. Who is coming to invest in a country where there is insecurity?”he said
