Police parade 15 suspected cultists, robbers

THE Anambra State police command yesterday paraded 15 suspected cultists and armed robbers, including four women, at its headquarters in Awka.
The suspects were arrested in various parts of the state, namely Nkpor in Idemili North local government area; Aroma in Awka; Enugwu Agidi in Njikoka Local Government Area; Iyiowa Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area; Agulezechukwu in Aguata Local Government Area; Abakaliki in Ebonyi State and Oye Agu Abagana, also in Njikoka.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ali Okechukwu said the suspected cultists belong to dangerous groups such as Baggers Confraternity, which has been terrorizing parts of Nkpor, Obosi and Onitsha and Vicking Confraternity, which has become popular in many institutions of learning in the state, while the suspected armed robbers were operating from the neighbouring states.
Items recovered from them included various types of locally made pistols, live cartridges, bags of Indian hemp, initiation materials among others.
