Fake spiritualist in court for defrauding woman of N350k in Lagos

The 27-year-old Onyekachi, who resides at Block 5, Jakande Housing Estate, Lekki, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and fraud, after he duped the woman, Maureen Okoro, of the money under the pretence of rendering spiritual assistance and changing naira to dollar.
According to the police prosecutor in the case, ASP Ignatius Okere, the accused, with others now at large, committed the offences on February 28, at his residence.
Okere told the court that Okoro had boarded a car going to Oshodi and entered into a conversation with the driver and two other passengers who turned out to be Onyekachi's accomplices.
The conversation generated into an argument about a bag belonging to one of the passengers containing money, which needed spiritual cleansing before it could be spent.
Okere continued:
“They drove to the residence of the accused to cleanse the said bag and the he collected N150,000 from Okoro and called her again to bring N200,000.
The accused was later traced to his house where he was apprehended,” he said.
When the charges were read to him, Onyekachi denied committing the offence and the magistrate, Ade Adefulire, granted him bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum while he adjourned the case till April 19 for further hearing.
