Paralyzed groom surprises bride by standing on wedding day

Friday 18 March 2016

A paralyzed groom decided to make his wedding for himself and his bride by surprising her at the altar.

Kent Stephenson made sure he was able to stand on his two feet beside his Misti Richeson as they exchanged vows on March 12, 2016.

In a Facebook Post by a friend of the newlyweds, the couple met in college in 2008 and began dating in early 2009, Kent who was a Pro-Am Motocross racer had an accident in June that year which caused an injury to his spine and left him paralyzed from chest down.

Seven years later the couple was ready to tie the knot. "We have experienced so many challenges together in life and we always overcome them — together," Stephenson said in a press release.

The groom was able to stand with the aid of an epidural stimulator placed in his back. He got the technology in 2011 which helped him stand on his two feet on his wedding day and even dance with his new wife during their reception.

It was gathered that everyone present at the wedding shed a few tears of joy for the newlyweds.
