Likewise, in a bid to do some
reshuffling in government agencies and commissions, President Buhari
asked the comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Martin
Abeshi, to vacate his office about two days ago President Muhammadu
Buhari has approved the disengagement of Mr John Kennedy Opara as the
Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission.

While briefing journalists regarding the termination of the appointment
of the Executive Secretary of the Christian body, which is one of the
government agencies, David Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the
Federation, stated that the decision was with immediate effect as from
Thursday, May 19.
According to the statement which
explains the disengagement from duty of the NCPC boss, it reads: “His
Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has in the exercise of his
powers, approved the disengagement of Mr. John Kennedy Opara as the
Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission with
effect from Thursday May 19 2016.
“Mr. President, however, thanked him
for his invaluable services to the nation and wishes him well in his
future endeavours.” The primary function of the NCPC is to oversee the
pilgrimage of those who practise Christianity in Nigeria once in a year
to Israel and some selected sites in the middle east.
