CROSS RIVER POLICE ARRESTS 10 BIAFRA AGITATORS.
The Cross River state police command has arrested 10 members of the Movement for Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) in Ikom.
This is following a rally which MASSOB held at Ikom stadium on May 30, 2016, in celebration of the Biafra Remembrance Day.
Though the state Police Public Relations Officer, John Eluu has denied any knowledge of the arrest, the spokesman of MASSOB in Cross River, Okon Archibong said the state chairman, Samuel Okah was arrested.
Archibong said “We have not had any other activity outside the May 30 commemoration of Biafra Anniversary Day, but last night the police from Ikom division went to the home of our state coordinator, Samuel Okah, and nine other persons. They were all arrested.
“They did not tell us why the members were arrested. They are all being detained at the Ikom Police Station. No reason was given for their arrest.”
“I have gone to see them at the Ikom police station this morning and they are in the cell. I sought to know why they were being held back but no feedback. During our anniversary march, we did not engage in any confrontation with anybody or group, not even with the police, who gave approval,” he added.
The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) have warned seven governors in Eastern Nigeria to release the Biafra supporters who are being held in their states within 72 hours.
