5 persons were reported dead as gunman opens fire on his wife, crowded Cafe




At least five people are reported to have been killed and 20 wounded after a gunman opened fire in a cafe in Serbia.

The man burst into the building armed with an assault rifle just before 2.00am local time in the early hours of this morning.

The attack happened in a small village near to the town of Zrenjanin, 30 miles northwest of the capital, Belgrade. Children are said to be among those injured.

Police say the suspect was arrested at the scene and he remains in custody.

Officers are identifying the man as Z.S. and claim he started his rampage by killing his wife and another woman. It is not known if the other woman was known to him.

Witnesses told how the attacker came to the cafe and saw his wife with a group of friends.

He went home before returning with a gun.

Svetozar Manojlovic: "He just pulled out a gun and started shooting, first into the air - it sounded like firecrackers at first.

"Then the guy next to me fell down and others started falling down. It was total chaos."
