Buratai should be resign or sacked - Falana urges Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari should terminate the appointment of Tukur Buratai, a lieutenant-general and chief f army staff, if he voluntarily fails to resign, Femi Falana has said.
The human rights lawyer and senior advocate of Nigeria said this in reaction to the report that Buratai purchased properties worth $1.5m in Dubai.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Falana described the defence mustered for Buratai by the Nigerian army as a “cock and bull story”.
Falana inferred that it was highly unlikely that Buratai would acquire the properties with his personal savings.
“In view of the ban on the opening and operation of foreign accounts by public officers, the Code of Conduct Bureau should be involved in the investigation.
“If the Chief of Army Staff does not deem it fit to resign forthwith, President Buhari should not hesitate to remove him in the interest of national morality.”
Falana further stressed that Buratai has to step down if indeed there would be no sacred cow in the fight against corruption, as promised by the Buhari administration.
