Peter Obi debunk the claim that he fought with Ekwueme over Nnamdi Kanu and Ndigbo

Mr. Peter Obi has reacted to the rumour that he was rebuked by Dr. Alex Ekwueme for allegedly calling on Igbo people to ignore Nnamdi Kanu.
There were allegations that Obi who is a two-time governor was insulted by the former vice president at the reception by Eke people in Enugu State, in honour of their sons – Mr. Godfrey Onyema, the minister of foreign affairs; and Mr. Osita Okechukwu, the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria. The Punch reports that the former governor spoke on Sunday, July 3 where he denied that he was rebuked by the elder statesman. He said such falsehoods “are injurious to individuals, institutions and the society, especially in this trying period of the nation’s development.” “As soon as I entered the venue, I went to greet Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
At the end of the event, I saw him and his wife off to their car before they left.” “This one is painful because it is disrespectful and an abomination in Igboland to ridicule such an eminent elder for cloudy political reasons. “In retirement after serving his country and society, we should accord him respect and seek his wisdom and counsel to improve our lives and help to move Nigeria forward, rather than subjecting him to opprobrium.”
The former governor also spoke about the state of the nation and said the country needed restructuring through the implementation of the resolutions of the 2014 national conference. He said this would reduce agitation across the country “as every geo-political zone will be afforded a sense of belonging and opportunity to develop at its own pace.”
He urged the governments and the people of the South-East geopolitical zone to harmonise their efforts for the good of the zone in particular, and the country at large. Meanwhile, the Supreme Council of Elders of Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) lashed out at their pro-Biafra counterpart, the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra and the Niger Delta Avengers for threatening the country’s peace. IPOB supreme council condemned their activities and said they probably did not witness the Biafra war. “Preachers of violence might be infants or non-existent during the 30-month Nigerian Civil War.”
