EFCC releases blogger Abusidiq

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released political blogger, Mr. Abubakar Sidiq Usman, otherwise known as Abusidiq, who it arrested on Monday.

Friends of the blogger, whose controversial arrest attracted criticism, confirmed to Punch correspondent that he has regained his freedom.

The EFCC spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, on Monday said the blogger was “for offences bordering on cyber stalking”, adding that he had been offered administrative bail and would be released to his elected sureties.

He, however, spent the night in custody after reportedly failing to meet the bail conditions.
