Aftermath of Military, Militants clash in Calabar, many dead recorded

No fewer than 7 armed militants were killed early Friday morning when a militant group, the Bakassi Strike Force attacked the Nigerian troops position in Efut Isigi, Cross River State. According to a statement sent to newsmen moments ago by Captain K.O Owolabi of the 13 brigade Nigerian Army, the militants were led by the most wanted criminal Benjamin Ene, alias G1.
The statement stated that the militants attacked at about 1am on Friday, but were repelled by the troops of the 13 Brigade and Operation Delta Safe, whicle led to the killing of seven of the militants.
We learnt that several others of the terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds but there was no causality from the Nigerian military.
“Some of them were wearing Nigerian military camouflage,” the statement added. It was gathered that some of the items recovered from the militants included 250 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, Rocket propelled Gun luncher, GPMG Belt links and various charms.
The Commander, 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, General Bulama Biu, speaking on the attack, said no militant group or criminal under any guise would be spared.
He added that the military and other security agencies will continue to hunt down any militant group or criminals that do not surrender. See photos below:
