The killing of the Biafra agitations was in a retaliation by the Military - Buratai
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Burutai yesterday confirmed the brutal killing of protesting IPOB and MASSOB members in Onitsha, Anambra State recently over the detention of Nnamdi Kanu.
He said that members of the separatist group were killed by soldiers because they were armed and violent.
Burutai, who stated this while answering questions from newsmen during a courtesy visit to Governor Rochas Okorocha as part of activities marking the commencement of the 2016 Chief of Army Staff Conference in the state, said that the armed protesters shot some soldiers, DSS personnel, Police and other security agencies during the protest before the soldiers retaliated.
“It is only under extreme conditions and stringent situations that the army would resort to the use of arms,” he said.
He also said that available evidence had shown that the IPOB and MASSOB members were armed and had attacked security agents during the protest thus compelling soldiers to respond.
