82 Chibok girls: FG did not pay any ransom to Boko Haram – Lai

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed has denied reports that a ransom of two million euro was paid by the Federal Government of Nigeria to terrorist group, Boko Haram for the release of the 82 Chibok girls.
He said this in a response to a BBC claim that Boko Haram received the ransom as part of the deal to release the girls.

Mohammed insisted that apart from the five commanders of the group that were freed, no other deal was reached.

According to him “Apart from the five Boko Haram commanders, the exchange of which we have already made public, no other concession was made.
“Any other thing to the contrary is absolutely false.
A thanksgiving service was held for the girls in Abuja.
