There was tears this morning as the Imo State Government began the demolition of the ancestral Eke ukwu market in Owerri.

Though there had been protests; with indigenes saying, the market is part of their traditional heritage but the Governor is of the opinion that the traffic caused on the road due to the market congestion is unbearable and so the market must be relocated.

Anyway as the demolition began this morning, a young boy who had come to the market to help his mother move her goods was hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot. As seen in the left photo above, you can see his sister wailing on his corpse. More photos...
