Benue Killings: Nigerian Soldiers arrest youth who mobilize to protect their communities
Soldiers arrest Some armed Benue Vigilante Youth who mobilized themselves to secure lives and property of their communities operating under the civilian Joint Task Force in Benue state.
The Youth vigilante were arrested in a town known as Arufu, between Benue and Taraba state
Soldiers of the 93 Battalion in Takum area of Taraba state have arrested nine members of Benue Vigilante Youth known as Civilian Joint Task Force.
The vigilante group were arrested at Arufu, a town between Benue state and Taraba states. five of the Benue Vigilante Youth were arrested with AK-47 riffles.
Although a reinforcement came to prevent the soldiers from arresting the CJTF's, that they were here as security and defense for the communities as the government can not provide them one, yet the troops stood their ground and insisted they must be arrested.
Benue Vigilante Youth have members of about 60 men camped in Gbeyi, Benue state.
It was also gathered that over 1,000 of the Benue Vigilante Youth team are stationed at different camps while 700 out of them bear arms.
Benue Vigilante Youth who are trying to defend, secure the lives and properties of their people are being arrested while Fulani herdsmen who have killed over 100 Benue people, destroyed their farms and burnt their houses are untouchable and are also under the protection of the Nigerian security forces
