Kwankwaso surrendered, suspends visit to Kano
Former Kano governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has suspended his much anticipated visit to Kano in order to avoid wide spread violence and unrest in the state.
Kano Police Command had advised Senator Kwankwaso to shelve the trip.
Kwankwaso, in a statement to newsmen at the main Kwankwasiyya House, Luggard Avenue, Kano, through his aide and former SSG under his administration, Rabiu Bichi, said, “we put off the visit after wide consultations with friends well-wishers home and abroad.”
“Considering the fact that the government of Ganduje has fully prepared to wage a war on the visit, (Mr Kwankwaso has decided to call it off) due to the concern of Kwankwaso for his people whom he cherished and will not want to spill their blood unnecessarily“.
Bichi disclosed that since Kwankwaso handed over to the present governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, the senator had not visited the state except for a few hours when his mother died.
He said the group would inform its followers of any future schedule for the visit.
Meanwhile, Governor Ganduje and Kwankwaso have been summoned to the presidential villa in Abuja over the lingering feud.
It was gathered that the governor, accompanied by two serving senators and two members of the house of representatives from the state, met with Abba Kyari, chief of staff to the president earlier today.
Ganduje, however, declined to speak with state house correspondents after the meeting.
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso is also expected to meet with Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential villa later in the day.
