Kano State Gov. sues Kwankwaso commissioner for mismanaging N47m student funds


Kano state government has sued former Commissioner of Health under Kwankwaso’s administration, Dr Abubakar Ladan Yusuf on allegations he mismanaged N47 million public funds meant to pay utility bills and allowance for Kano students at Mansoura University, Egypt.
Muhuyi Rimingado, chairman of the Kano state Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission, told a press conference a date for mentioning of the case would be communicated to the commission by a Kano state High court. Rimingado said the commission had been investigating the matter since 2016 before bringing three charges against the former commissioner. He said, “We have left no stone unturned in the course of our investigation and we have gathered enough evidences to prove the guiltiness of the former commissioner before the court.” According to the writ of summon, a copy obtained by Daily Trust, Dr Yusuf was accused for three count-charges bordering on corrupt practice and contrary to Sections 315 and 123(a) of the Penal Code Law as well as Section 24(a)(1) of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law 20108 as amended. Five witnesses are expected to testify against the former commissioner when the hearing begins.
