Adamawa PDP spokesman killed by gunmen

Gunmen have killed the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, Sam Zadock.
Zadock and four others were on Tuesday attacked in Demsa Local Government Area, one of the flash points of farmer-herder conflict that suffered attacks and reprisals in recent months. The State Secretary of PDP, Abdullahi Prambe, confirmed the incident yesterday, saying the party was devastated by the huge loss. “We were expecting him for a meeting yesterday but he didn’t show up; he called me but the network wasn’t good only for us to hear that he was killed in an attack,” Prambe said. Prambe called for immediate action from the authorities to stop the bloody conflict that consumed several lives in the state. According to the residents of Demsa, gunmen killed more than 20 persons in the area during an attack on Tuesday. A Batchama youth leader, Paul Turaki, told journalists that Zadock and four others traveling with him in the same car ran in to an ambush around Barre village in Demsa area. A statement issued by Army Spokesman, Brig. Gen Texas Chukwu, confirmed the killing of 10 suspected gunmen involved in an attack and the arrest of six others.
